THERE ARE SEVERAL ATHLETES AND THEIR FAMILIES THAT ATTENDED WEDNESDAY NIGHT’S ATHLETIC BANQUET THAT HAVE NOT PAID… PLEASE BRING IN YOUR PAYMENT A.S.A.P.

 

WHOEVER TOOK THE MASTER KEY FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT’S OFFICE LAST THURSDAY SHOULD RETURN IT!!!!

 

IF YOU HAVE ANY FINES OR UNIFORMS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED BY SENIORS, PLEASE GET THE LIST OF STUDENTS TO KAREN HAM.  DIPLOMAS WILL BE HELD UNTIL ALL FINES ARE TAKEN CARE OF!! (Library obligations:  Taylor Carlson, Budd Erickson, Lena Erickson, Whitney Hallstrom, Monica Kangas, Connie Peterson, Charlie Richards, & Braun Rosenlund)

 

Erica was in the TOP TEN!!!! Now they start another process!! Voting for the top ten videos began at 9:00 a.m. this morning!  Students in the top ten will be judged on several different criteria.  One of it is the voting process again and their placement amongst the other videos.  Call from land lines, cell phone and texting to 1-906-523-9088 and vote online Don't forget, this is her video’s entry page:

The SENIOR honors assembly will be held THIS MORNING at 9:00 a.m. with your picnic to follow… The Lock-In is scheduled for TOMORROW NIGHT!  Graduation practice will be held NEXT THURSDAY and FRIDAY, May 30th & 31st.  PRACTICE is NOT optional!  You MUST be there!

 

ALL students will be dismissed at 12:21 p.m. TOMORROW due to a teacher in-service.

 

TEACHERS:  If a senior has more than 8 absences (but not over 10) and they do not plan to make up any time this Friday, they need to take the exam!  If they have any unexcused absences, they need to take the exam!  If they are over 10 absences, they need to take the exam!  Exams will be given this FRIDAY… Let the student know that they should report to you to take it.  If a student tells you that they are going to make up time, please let Karen Ham know so that we will make sure that they are here.  If they fail to make up the time for absences and do not take their exam, they will get a zero on the exam and the trimester grade will be averaged with that zero!

 

Anyone that is interested in cheerleading next year should come to a meeting in the auditorium next TUESDAY at 12:45 p.m.  (last 10 minutes of lunch time).

 

SADD will be having a root beer float sale on FRIDAY, May 31st.  A small will be $1 and a large will be $2.  Bring your money in and order them with Mrs. McKaig by Wednesday, the 29th!

 

WE ARE STILL COLLECTING MADI TABS… PLEASE SUPPORT THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE AND LITTLE MADI BROGAN!!

 

Are you interested in running for the Miss Houghton County Fair Queen?  If so… stop by the principal’s office for more information.  An added bonus is the prize money of $1,000, $500, & $250. Fair Dates are August 22-25.  Girls need to be 1618 years of age as of July 19th & residents of Houghton or Keweenaw Counties.

2013 Yearbooks are on Sale~$30.  Make checks out to Dollar Bay Yearbook or bring cash to Mr. O'Connor's room (305).  There are only 50 books available.  First come, first serve.

TEACHERS:  I STILL HAVE INCOMPLETES FOR STUDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING CLASSES (2ND TRIMESTER):  Olivia Hokenson, English 9; Lilly Homola, Online Biology; Brad Peterson, woods; Kevin Wilson, Online English 9; Justin Rogan, woods, Nicole Saari, woods; Janelle Wuebben, woods; Monica Kangas, & Braun Rosenlund, work experience.  THE 2ND TRIMESTER ENDED ON MARCH 1! 

 

I have information available in the principal’s office for any students ages 15-18 that are interested in applying to work for the National Park Service Youth Conservation Corps.  The program begins June 10th and ends August 2nd. Program participants will be selected by a random drawing from the pool of qualified applications.  Deadline to submit an application is TOMORROW!

 

I have information in the principal’s office for the SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS that are being offered through MTU… Basketball, Cheer, Dance, Football, Hockey, Mountain Biking, Skating, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball….  I also have information on a YOUTH BULLDOG FOOTBALL CAMP on June 24th, 25th & 26th for boys 1st – 8th grades. The deadline to apply is MAY 24th… Application forms are available in the principal’s office.  COACH STEVE KRAHLING has set up the 2nd annual University of Wisconsin Superior Basketball Camp to be held at Dollar Bay High School July 15-18.  Girls in grades 3-6 will meet from 9:30-noon and girls in grades 7-12 will meet from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  Camp Applications are available in the principal’s office.  Applications are due back in by July 1, 2013!  If you are interested, please stop by the office for an application!!  Finlandia is offering a team camp for volleyball and individual camp July 22 and 23rd for students in grades 2-8.  Stop by the office for more information.

 

Portage Health Medical Group will be offering FREE athletic screenings to student athletes on TUESDAY, JUNE 18th from 10:00-11:30 a.m.  You need to bring a SIGNED physical form, eyeglasses or contact lenses for vision. Wear a shirt that can be pulled up so the provider can listen to heart & lungs and wear shoes that can be easily removed and put back on as well.  Stop by the principal’s office for a physical card!

 

LOOK FOR FLYERS IN THE BUILDING TELLIN ABOUT the first annual Splash for Cash Fishing Tournament and much more which will take place on JUNE 8th, (Michigan FREE Fishing Weekend) from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Linden Village Park/Marina.  This is a benefit for the Copper Country Humane Society, Little Brother, Friends of the Elderly and Prayers and Love for McHalie Walter who is fighting cancer.  There will be minnow races, a fishing pond, live music, food vendors, Zumba fitness with Royale, Bouncy House, Dunk Tank, & Lake Linden Fire Truck Display.  An appearance of the Bootjack Rescue Hovercraft will also take place.  There will be a Kid’s Casting Challenge, Demonstrations with AWA Walleye Tour Fishing Pros Mark Butke and an Dube, a live auction at 5:00 p.m. and prizes for all participating kids.  All activities and games will cost $1.  First place for the fishing tournament is fishing gear worth $399 from the Tackle Lodge at Quality Hardware.  The fishing tournament will run from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and there is a $12 entry fee per person.  There is also a Fishing Boat Raffle… first prize is a fishing boat, 2nd prize is a $500 shopping spree at the Tackle Lodge at Quality Hardware.  Tickets are $20.  QUALITY HARDWARE IS SPONSORING THIS… THEY ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS.  IF YOU ARE WILLING TO VOLUNTEER, THERE WILL BE A MEETING ON MONDAY, MAY 20TH IN THE BACK ROOM AT THE LAKE LOUNGE AT 5:30 P.M.!!
